The Clermont Hotel

Built in 1912 by T.C. Miller, the Clermont Hotel is a striking 13,000-square-foot brick building that once served travelers arriving by train and students boarding nearby. Its original design featured 20 guest rooms, tea rooms, and a single shared bath, and later housed the town’s post office for a time. Over the years the hotel shifted roles—becoming apartments and enduring years of vacancy after the train service ceased.

In the early 2000s, interior designer Cheryl Plumlee Potts purchased and lovingly restored the building, preserving elements such as the original glass-front lobby and concrete slab floor. Today the restored is privately but stands as a cherished landmark in Clermont.
